Victor Osimhen transfer news: Why beating Arsenal in UCL final could help PSG sign Nigeria star

Published on by

Victor Osimhen is set for a busy summer after the Super Eagles forward enjoyed yet another trophy-winning campaign with Galatasaray, Afrik-Foot reports.

The former Napoli star is again on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs, a year after sealing a permanent move to Istanbul.

Paris Saint-Germain are one of the clubs linked with Osimhen, with the French giants preparing for another huge summer window after reaching the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal.

As things stand, PSG have re-entered the race to sign the Super Eagles star, with Luis Enrique reportedly identifying the 27-year-old as the ideal striker to lead his next attacking rebuild in Paris.

However, the deal is far from straightforward. Galatasaray are in a strong negotiating position after tying Osimhen down to a long-term contract until 2029, and reports in Turkey suggest the club are demanding around €150 million before agreeing to any sale.

PSG are believed to be exploring different options to reduce the fee, including a proposal worth around €120 million plus players. Midfielder Carlos Soler and defender Nordi Mukiele are among the names linked with possible exchange discussions.

The financial package itself also remains huge. Victor Osimhen is reportedly seeking wages between €15 million and €20 million per season, a figure only a handful of European clubs can comfortably afford.

Despite the cost, PSG’s interest makes sense when Osimhen’s numbers are compared to the club’s current forwards.

The former Napoli striker has scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 32 appearances for Galatasaray across all competitions this season. His goal contribution rate has comfortably outperformed PSG striker Gonçalo Ramos, who has struggled to become a guaranteed starter under Luis Enrique.

Osimhen has also delivered on Europe’s biggest stage. He recorded seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League matches for Galatasaray, while Ramos managed only two goals in the same competition.

PSG’s attack has often relied heavily on wide players like Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola. While both have enjoyed productive campaigns, the French champions have lacked a dominant penalty-box striker capable of consistently finishing crosses and attacking aerial deliveries.

That is exactly where Osimhen fits the picture. Luis Enrique’s preferred 4-3-3 system thrives on aggressive pressing, quick transitions and wide overloads. Osimhen’s pace, movement, physical strength and relentless work rate make him a natural option to lead that frontline.

A potential PSG front three of Osimhen, Dembélé and Barcola would offer the club a far more direct and unpredictable attacking threat than the fluid system currently built around rotating forwards.

Victor Osimhen: Why Arsenal clash could change everything

The Champions League final against Arsenal could now become a defining moment in PSG’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen.

Winning Europe’s biggest prize for a second straight year would hand the French club another enormous financial boost through UEFA prize money, commercial income and sponsorship growth. That extra revenue could make it easier for PSG to meet both Galatasaray’s €150 million valuation and Osimhen’s wage demands without major financial concerns.

Just as importantly, another Champions League title would strengthen PSG’s sporting appeal.

Chelsea and Manchester United both remain interested in Osimhen, while Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to monitor developments closely. But a PSG side coming off anothet European triumph under Luis Enrique would present one of the strongest projects in world football.

Instead of joining a rebuilding side, Victor Osimhen would be stepping into a team aiming to dominate Europe for years.

The final against Arsenal may also influence PSG’s squad planning.

If Luis Enrique decides his current fluid attack lacks a true number nine against elite opposition, Osimhen could quickly become the club’s top priority once the season ends. A victory could also accelerate Gonçalo Ramos’ departure, freeing up space in the squad for a marquee arrival.

Yet there is another side to the argument.

Should PSG’s current frontline overpower Arsenal without using a traditional striker, Luis Enrique could conclude that spending €150 million on Osimhen is unnecessary. The Spanish coach has often preferred flexible attackers capable of rotating positions rather than playing around a fixed central forward.

That tactical switch could ultimately decide whether PSG push ahead aggressively this summer or turn their attention elsewhere.

At the moment, though, Osimhen remains firmly at the centre of Europe’s biggest transfer conversation.

And with the Champions League final approaching, one match against Arsenal could shape the next chapter of his career.
