Turkey’s wealthiest businessman Murat Ulker is a huge fan of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.
This much is clear from the latest reports in the country’s press. Journalist Haluk Yurekli has revealed that the well-known Fenerbahce fan has paid out a fortune to the 26-year-old. The figure, €1.5 million, is an unprecedented one for footballers based in Turkey.
Osimhen, whose goals proved to be the difference for Galatasaray in pipping bitter rivals Fenerbahce to the league title, has become the toast of the country in only a season, and is currently considering an offer from Cim Bom to join permanently from parent club Napoli.

What is the purpose of the payout Osimhen received?
The €1.5 million is not simply a gift, however. The sum has been paid by Ulker in order for Victor Osimhen to appear in an advertising campaign for one of the mogul’s brands.

While the report did not state which brand exactly, Yildiz Holding, of which Ulker is chairman, has a large product portfolio ranging from confectioneries to retail chains to frozen goods. No sportsperson has ever been paid this much to appear in a commercial.
As a mark of goodwill, the 66-year-old, despite his Fenerbahce affiliations, recently put the flag of Osimhen’s Galatasaray on his company building.
