Victor Osimhen gives vote of thanks to Galatasaray: ‘They helped me flex on my haters’

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has opened up about how Galatasaray’s faith in him reignited his confidence and silenced his critics.

The 26-year-old joined Galatasaray in September last year following a fallout with his parent club, Napoli, after they failed to capitalise on transfer interest from top European sides.

With the summer window closing and no move materialising, and with Osimhen no longer featuring in manager Antonio Conte's plans, Galatasaray stepped in—offering the Nigerian striker a vital opportunity to rediscover his form and showcase his undeniable talent on the pitch.

The move has proven to be a masterstroke for both the player and the club, with Osimhen emerging as the driving force behind Galatasaray’s campaign.

Osimhen has scored an impressive 33 goals and contributed 6 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. His prolific form has been instrumental in the club’s successful title defence, with just four matches remaining in the season.

Reflecting on a challenging summer marked by doubts and speculation, the towering forward expressed gratitude to the Turkish giants for offering him the platform to remind the world of his quality.

In a recent interview with the club’s official television channel, as reported by Fotomac, Osimhen expressed heartfelt gratitude to Galatasaray for standing by him during a challenging phase in his career.

“This is really valuable to me. Despite what happened in the summer, I gave my message on the field to those who did not believe in me,” he said.

“It was very important for Galatasaray to be compassionate towards me and give me the opportunity to send a clear message to many people outside, and to use the opportunity to show people who believe in me that I still have this ability in terms of my performance, in order to prove this to many people who spoke negatively about me.”

Osimhen’s loan stint with the Turkish champions is expected to conclude at the end of the season.

With a €75 million (£63.2 million) release clause in his Napoli contract, the Nigerian striker has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, and Liverpool.
