Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to take on a bigger role at Turkish champions Galatasaray despite the continued speculation surrounding his future this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.
Osimhen has remained one of the biggest names in the transfer market, attracting interest from several of Europe’s top clubs ahead of the new season.
Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with the 27-year-old at different stages since the end of last season as they all hoped to strengthen their attacking options.

Since arriving at Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions. His goals have helped the Turkish giants win two league titles and the Turkish Cup, giving him three major trophies in just two seasons.
Despite the transfer rumours, Osimhen has consistently made it clear that he wants to stay at Galatasaray. Meanwhile, the Turkish club have also maintained that they have no intention of letting him leave.

The Nigerian international has repeatedly spoken about his desire to remain with the club, where he has built a strong connection with the supporters through his performances and commitment on the pitch.
That relationship and his willingness to stay, has now been strengthened by an important decision from the club.
According to Forza Cimbom, Osimhen has been named as one of Galatasaray’s captains for the upcoming season, giving him a leadership role within the squad.
The Turkish champions have been looking to reshape their leadership group following the confirmed departure of former captain Mauro Icardi, creating an opening for them to add new players to the group.

Having already established himself as one of the team’s most influential players and one of the loudest voices in the dressing room, Osimhen was considered a natural choice. His leadership experience with the Nigerian national team also made the decision an easy one.
The Super Eagles star can now head into pre-season fully focused on the campaign ahead as he aims to lead Galatasaray to another Turkish league title and help them enjoy a stronger run in European competition next season.
