Victor Osimhen transfer: Ranking top 6 clubs keen on Super Eagles star including Tottenham

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen could be open to leaving Galatasaray for a return to one of Europe’s top-five leagues this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Nigeria international enjoyed another outstanding campaign in Turkey, helping Galatasaray win back-to-back Süper Lig titles while also netting seven goals in ten Champions League appearances. His performances have attracted interest from several European giants, with Premier League clubs leading the race.

One of the clearest signs that Osimhen could be preparing for a move came when he declined Galatasaray’s offer to become the club’s permanent captain following Mauro Icardi’s departure. The decision could be indication that the 27-year-old does not want to commit his long-term future to the Turkish champions while major clubs continue to circle.

Galatasaray are prepared to negotiate, but only if their asking price of over €100 million is met. Tottenham Hotspur have already stepped forward with an opening proposal believed to be worth between £50 million and £55 million, while Arsenal, Manchester United and several other European clubs continue to monitor developments.

Osimhen’s likely destinations

Here is how the race currently stands, beginning with the least likely destination for the Galatasaray forward.

6. Barcelona

Barcelona admired Osimhen’s goalscoring record and briefly explored whether a deal could be possible as they considered strengthening their attack for the future. The Nigerian striker would reportedly welcome the opportunity to play for the Spanish giants, knowing the club’s history and reputation in European football.

However, Barcelona have now cooled their interest. The Catalan side are focusing on other attacking targets, including Julián Álvarez, while their financial situation makes it difficult to fund both a €100 million transfer fee and Osimhen’s salary package. For now, Barcelona remain outsiders in the race.

5. Chelsea

Chelsea have tracked Osimhen for several years and still admire his strength, pace and ability to score consistently against top opposition. The Premier League has always appealed to the Nigerian forward, making Stamford Bridge an attractive destination if the right opportunity presents itself.

Despite that interest, Chelsea’s pursuit has slowed considerably, especially with the recent signing of Danny Welbeck. The club are unwilling to disrupt their carefully managed wage structure and are also reluctant to commit to another expensive striker signing after heavy spending in recent transfer windows. Unless their position changes, Chelsea appear unlikely to push ahead with a formal bid.

Atlético Madrid continue to watch Osimhen’s situation closely as Diego Simeone looks at options to strengthen his attack. The Argentine coach reportedly believes the Nigerian’s pressing, physical presence and finishing ability would fit perfectly into Atlético’s aggressive style of play.

The Spanish club also faces uncertainty over the futures of key forwards, making Osimhen an attractive replacement if changes are made before the transfer window closes. The biggest obstacle remains finances. Atlético would struggle to match both Galatasaray’s valuation and Osimhen’s reported annual salary demands of around €15 million. Unless compromises are made, completing the deal will be difficult.

Manchester United have followed Osimhen for several transfer windows as they continue searching for a proven goalscorer to lead their attack. The Old Trafford club previously explored a move during the winter transfer window, but Osimhen preferred to remain at Galatasaray and help the club secure another league title.

United still admire the Super Eagles striker and view him as a player capable of transforming their frontline. However, unlike Tottenham, the Red Devils have yet to make an aggressive move this summer. Arsenal have shown some of the strongest interest in Osimhen as Mikel Arteta looks for a clinical striker capable of delivering both Premier League and UEFA Champions League success. The Gunners even sent senior club officials to Istanbul in an ambitious attempt to complete a deal.

Their proposal reportedly included Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres plus an additional €30 million in cash. Galatasaray immediately rejected the offer, insisting they wanted the full transfer fee rather than a player-exchange arrangement. Although Arsenal remain interested, that setback has allowed Tottenham to move into pole position.

1. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are currently leading the race to sign Osimhen and have shown the strongest determination to complete a deal. The North London club have identified the Nigerian as their priority striker and have already received internal approval to pursue the transfer.

Their opening offer has fallen short of Galatasaray’s valuation. Even so, Spurs remain in active talks and are expected to continue negotiations. Personal terms are not expected to be a major problem, especially after Osimhen turned down Galatasaray’s offer to become club captain for the 2026-27 season. That decision strengthened the belief that the Super Eagles star wants a fresh challenge in the Premier League.

With several weeks still remaining before the transfer window closes, Tottenham appear to be in the strongest position. Arsenal, Manchester United, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona continue to stay in the conversation, but unless another club matches Galatasaray’s asking price, Spurs remain the favourites to land Nigeria’s most valuable footballer in history.
