Victor Osimhen on the brink of history with major Galatasaray milestone in sight

Victor Osimhen is on the cusp of writing his name into the Galatasaray history books, with the Super Eagles striker enjoying a blistering season in front of goal.

Osimhen, currently on a season-long loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in stellar form, contributing goals and assists as Cimbom strengthens its grip at the top of the Süper Lig table.

With 29 goals across all competitions so far, the Nigeria international has not only become a fan favourite in Istanbul but is now within touching distance of two historic milestones.

If he nets five more times before the season concludes, he will surpass former Fenerbahçe striker Enner Valencia’s tally of 33 goals — the highest by a foreign player in a single season in Turkish football.

But even more significantly for Galatasaray supporters, four more goals would see him eclipse teammate Mauro Icardi’s record of 32 goals, set just last season, making Osimhen the most prolific foreign goal-scorer in a single campaign in the club’s storied history.

The numbers behind Victor Osimhen’s best season yet

Victor Osimhen is currently enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career.

While his standout season at Napoli in 2022/23 saw him net 31 goals in all competitions as the club clinched their first Scudetto in over three decades, the Nigerian striker has now raised the bar even higher.

This term, under Okan Buruk at Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored 29 goals in just 32 matches — with several games still remaining. His goal-per-minute ratio has also improved significantly, corroborating his increased efficiency and sharper instincts in front of goal.

No longer just a physical threat, Osimhen has evolved into a clinical, well-rounded forward who thrives in a system built around his strengths.

If his current form continues, he is poised not only to surpass his previous personal best but also to etch his name into Galatasaray’s history books as one of the club’s most impactful foreign signings in recent times.
