Victor Osimhen agrees Galatasaray stay, but his financial package will change Turkish football forever

Reports in Turkey suggest that Victor Osimhen has now accepted to remain at Galatasaray.

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year, who led the Turkish Super Lig in goals and won the league and cup double with Cim Bom, is highly sought after, and looked set to move to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal this summer.

However, Osimhen remaining with Galatasaray is now likelier than ever. His connection with the club’s fanbase, as well as the persuasion of his entourage, is believed to be informing his change of heart.

Total agreement between Victor Osimhen & Galatasaray

Regardless of his affinity to the fans and apparent love for Galatasaray, the Nigeria international has requested a salary of €20 million per annum to remain in Istanbul, as well as a five-year contract. This is according to club legend Hasan Sas, who revealed this information to KAFA Sports.

Such a figure is unheard of in the history of Turkish football, and would irreparably alter the club’s wage structure. It would also entitle him to that amount until the age of 31.

In addition, if they are to acquire the 26-year-old permanently, they will need to pay the full release clause to newly crowned Serie A champions Napoli, who have held firm on the €75 million valuation in the striker’s contract.

Galatasaray have reportedly agreed to Osimhen’s terms in principle, but whether they can finance the demands remains to be seen.
