Kaizer Chiefs embark on a tough assignment on enemy territory as they face Congolese side AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round on Saturday.
Chiefs will play the first leg of the crucial encounter in DR Congo at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi and have their work cut out against a physical side whose qualities they know very little about.
That has the potential of surprising Amakhosi, who are looking to return to the group stages of a continental competition for the first time since 2021.

Chiefs need to get a win in DR Congo to take to the second leg in Naturena next week hence the need to put their best foot forward.
Form guide
Chiefs have just one win in their last six games and it is a record they need to change by winning against Simba.
The Glamour Boys have lost three and drawn two over that period with their only victory being in this competition when they beat Angolan side Kabuscorp in the second leg of the first preliminary round.

Over that period, Chiefs have also scored five goals but conceded six which will perhaps give their opponents belief.
Meanwhile, Simba are on a good run, having won their last three games in a row and come into the game high on confidence.
What should worry Chiefs is that Simba have not conceded in their last four games while netting five and with Amakhosi looking shaky at the back, they will feel that they have a chance.

Head-to-head
Chiefs and Simba have never faced off and there lies the difficulty for the South African giants as they do not know much about their opponents.

Chiefs have no fresh injury concerns and have been boosted by the availability of striker Khanyisa Mayo and the other new signings Lebohang Maboe, Asanele Velebayi and Etiosa Ighodaro, who have been registered ahead of the clash.
Mfundo Vilakazi is also back after his starring role in the U20 World Cup but it remains to be seen if Fiacre Ntwari will play any part after his refusal to come on during Chiefs’ last match before the international break.
Time and where to watch
The match will kick off at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday from 15:00. However, there will be no channel broadcasting the match live as the home side did not acquire rights.
