Kaizer Chiefs might have started the season in fine fashion but they have still not convinced Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos that they are good enough to win the PSL title.
Amakhosi have managed 10 points from a possible 12 after three straight wins and a draw, the stalemate being Wednesday’s goalless draw with champions Mamelodi Sundowns, when Nasreddine Nabi’s team were the better side.
They have also kept four clean sheets over that period, a remarkable improvement from last season, when they did not win back-to-back games and conceded many goals in the league as they went on to finish in a disappointing ninth position.
Broos gives his opinion on title contenders

That has seen optimism return among Chiefs fans that a first title since 2015 might be headed to Naturena but Broos is not among those rushing to make conclusions.
“For the moment, the level is not like last year. Pirates signed many players, they need to settle in,” Broos said of the Big Three’s title credentials this season.
“At Sundowns at the moment, [Khuliso] Mudau is not playing. [Lucas] Ribeiro, there is a problem. They struggle with that. Chiefs is better than last year, but still not at the level you expect from a top team,” he added, justifying why he feels the Glamour Boys are not there yet.
Which PSL team has surprised Bafana boss?

The veteran coach then singled out one team which he feels will surprise all if they maintain their momentum.
“For me, Sekhukhune play the best football right now,” said the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winner of Eric Tinkler’s team.
Broos seems to have backed his sentiments with his selection as only one Chiefs player made his final 23-man squad for September’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria, being Mduduzi Shabalala.
