Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has provided an update on the injury of Khanyisa Mayo, who went down during Wednesday’s PSL match against Siwelele FC.
Mayo was stretchered off the pitch before he limped into the dressing room at full-time when he needed support to walk.
It was feared that he had sustained a hamstring injury that might keep him out for an extended period and that is what has been confirmed by coach Kaze, who says the striker will not be available, for their CAF Confederation Cup return leg against AS Simba of DR Congo on Sunday.
Contrasting fortunes for Mayo and Miguel

“The thing that we are sure until now is that Mayo is out for this game after suffering a hamstring injury in our last game,” Kaze told the media on Friday.
Kaze, however, did not elaborate the extent of Mayo’s injury but he looks like he could be out for a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs coach also provided an update on the injuries of captain Inacio Miguel, midfielder Ethan Chislett, defender Paseko Mako and striker Flavio Silva.
“We are still need to manage and make some additional tests for Miguel who was injured at halftime against Siwelele. We will assess him today [Friday] and tomorrow to see if he can feature, we are optimistic for him,” he added.
Who else is out of the AS Simba clash?

“Other than that, Ethan is still not fully fit. He started training with the group but without contact. Given has already had one week of training with the group after six months out of the field.
“[Paseka] Mako is still unavailable but the rest of the team are still doing good. Flavio [Da Silva] has been training with the group for the last 10 days and we are pretty sure he’s good to go now.”
Chiefs must win the match to make it to the Confederation Cup group stages after a goalless first leg in Lubumbashi last Saturday.
