Given Msimango speaks out on lack of game time at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has acknowledged his reduced playing time this season under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Msimango, who joined Amakhosi in July 2023, was a key player last season, featuring regularly under both Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson.

However, with the arrival of Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley at the start of the current campaign, competition for places in central defense has intensified.

The 27-year-old has made just four appearances this season, starting three and coming on as a substitute once.

Msimango attributes this to the increased competition and the changes implemented by the new coaching staff.

‘I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY OPPORTUNITY’

“Yeah, personally, yeah, last season was, for me personally, was a good season. I played almost every game,” said Msimango as quoted by FARPost.

“And of course, now this season came. A new coach. There are probably new players, reinforced defence, if I may say.

“So, yeah, just like every other player, I have to wait for my opportunity to play. When I get it, I need to use it.

“But for the time being, the guys that are playing, I need to support them. I need to show them the respect that they've shown me when I was playing. And that's it for me to stay professional at all times.”
