‘He is an embarrassment!’ Nabi told to release ‘poor’ Chiefs striker

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been underlining the importance of having a ruthless striker for his Kaizer Chiefs team.

His point was bare on Sunday as wasteful Glamour Boys fell against Cape Town City by a solitary goal. It was the Soweto giants' fourth loss in the Premier Soccer League in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign.

Former club's winger Junior Khanye has now advised Amakhosi to cut loose striker Christian Basomboli Saile who he believes is adding nothing to the team. The 25-year-old missed some good chances against the Citizens and made some poor decisions in the final third.

Why start Saile who is doing the same things over and over again?

“Sometimes it’s an embarrassment to see the likes of Saile starting a game,” he told iDiski TV.

“When you have a left winger like Saile who is always doing the same thing every week I don’t understand how he earned a place to play. Why is he still at Chiefs?

“Not much from Saile from the left he hits the ball over the bar, he was off target for like three times doing the same thing in a row. His decision-making was poor as well. There were 3 v 2 situations and passed to the opponents very poor from Chiefs I need to be honest.”

The short January transfer window opened a couple of days ago. The Glamour Boys are expected to bring in a few heads especially in the attacking department to help in getting goals.

On Wednesday, Chiefs host Stellenbosch in the Premier Soccer League fixture at the FNB Stadium.
