New Kaizer Chiefs signing Nkanyiso Shinga is ready to make his mark, vowing to “fight for the badge” after his debut performance.
The 24-year-old took to the field against Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup on Saturday, a game Chiefs lost in a penalty shootout in Durban.
This appearance was particularly special for Shinga, as it was his first time playing as a professional in front of his home crowd in Durban.
He shared that wearing the famed Gold and Black of the Phefeni Glamour Boys has been a cherished ambition since his youth, inspired by players like former Chiefs left-back Tshepo Masilela.

SHINGA – ‘IT’S BEEN A DREAM TO PLAY HERE’
“It's been good. The way they have received me,” Shinga told SABC Sport.
“Since I got here, it feels like I'm home. It's different from previous times, when I would join a new team, it would take me time to adjust.
“But the way I have been welcomed in this team, I feel confident, I feel I can give more. It's been a dream to play for Chiefs, from the times of Masilela. It's been a dream. So I have to fight for this badge.”
On the club’s targets for the upcoming season, he said, “I can say there are many things [we want to improve].”
“Like we said, we want to try and play from the back and go forward, and understand each other. Have connections.
“Know where to pass when I have the ball, just understanding each other. But I think it will be a great season.”
