With PSL teams moving with speed to release kits for the 2025-26 season, champions Mamelodi Sundowns have also dropped their new offering.
Sundowns’ pre-season has started late, the Brazilians reporting back on Monday, July 21 and three days later, the club has released its new kits for next season.
The PSL champions had played in a different shade of yellow at the FIFA Club World Cup in June, courtesy of their KidSuper partnership but for next season, they will return to a familiar look, albeit with some alterations from their kit sponsors Puma.
What is unique about Mamelodi Sundowns’ new kit?
“The Art of Play kit design is inspired by the dazzling combination of strategy, precision, and artistry with which Masandawana plays the Beautiful Game,” stated the club’s media team.
Sundowns will play in a yellow kit with some shades of green on the sides and sleeve in their home matches while the away jersey will be white with shades of blue on the sides and sleeves.
“The kit pays homage to this in a beautiful way with the underarm print using the unique, almost kaleidoscopic pattern inspired by traditional hand-dyed fabric combined with traced movements from analysing Mamelodi Sundowns games,” said Puma South Africa Marketing Director Brett Bellinger.
Downs looking for domestic and continental success
The new kit will officially go on the market on August 7 with Sundowns fans expected to snap them up in large numbers in readiness for the new campaign.
Sundowns will begin their 2025-26 season with the MTN8 quarter-final against Richards Bay on Sunday, August 3 before their kick off their PSL title defence with a home clash against Chippa United on Saturday August 9.
Miguel Cardoso’s side will be going for a ninth league title in a row and also have ambitions of conquering Africa after reaching last season’s CAF Champions League final before losing out to Egyptian club Pyramids.
