Nabi questions timing of Chiefs vs Sundowns clash – ‘I need time to practice’

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi feels the match between his team and Mamelodi Sundowns has come too soon.

Nabi’s Chiefs will face an acid test when they host PSL champions Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with both teams having started the season with two straight wins.

However, Nabi is not happy with the timing of the game which comes on the back of his side’s 3-1 victory against AmaZulu on Wednesday.

Why is Nabi not happy with the timing of Downs match?

“If you prepare your game to a professional level, you need time. My tactics for today [against AmaZulu] are different from the game of Sundowns but I need time to practice on the field,” said Nabi.

“Tomorrow [Thursday] we will fly to Johannesburg one day before the game and I don’t have time to prepare my team very good tactically.”

The veteran coach is, however, still confident of a positive result from his team despite the limited preparation time.

Kaizer Chiefs coach is still confident of a positive result

“It is not possible for myself but this is not an excuse, we will go 200 per cent. We go to play to give 200 per cent. We play at home and we are Kaizer Chiefs,” he added.

“We have big respect for Sundowns, one of the greatest teams in Africa, but we prefer to play Sundowns with more time to prepare.”

Chiefs started the season with a 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants before the victory against AmaZulu while Sundowns downed SuperSport United 2-0 and followed it up with a 4-1 win past Gallants, setting up a mouth-watering clash on Saturday.
