Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has come under increasing pressure following his team’s poor campaign in the PSL where they finished a disappointing ninth.
Chiefs missed out on the top eight for a second straight season with the only silver lining being a Nedbank Cup win that ended their 10-year wait for a trophy.
However, while they won the cup, their league form was very poor and struggled to win back-to-back games in the PSL with their opening two weeks of the season the only time they claimed victories twice in a row.
Which unwanted record did Chiefs match?
That has seen Chiefs end the season with the lowest number of wins, having managed just eight league victories in 28 matches, that left them with 32 points.
It was not the only bad record set by Chiefs in the 2024-25 season as their league form in the final three months of the campaign was similar to that of relegation candidates.
From March to May, Chiefs failed to win any of their final nine matches in the PSL, drawing five while losing four, which contributed to their inability to finish in the top eight.
As per Opta Jabu, Chiefs’ nine-game winless streak equaled the club’s worst-ever run without a victory, also of nine matches during the 2001-02 season under coach Muhsin Ertugral.
Amakhosi struggled against league minnows

Chiefs last tasted a league win on March 4, when they beat Magesi FC 1-0, before following it up with a goalless draw with Cape Town City, a 2-0 loss to Richards Bay, a 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows and then 1-1 and 0-0 draws against TS Galaxy and Chippa United respectively.
Any hopes of changing that against Marumo Gallants went up in smoke when they suffered a 2-1 loss followed by 1-1 and 0-0 stalemates against Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City in their final two matches of the season.
The fact that six of those matches came against teams that finished seventh or lower on the table was a damning verdict on Nabi and his team as none of those sides have a squad that comes close to what is available at Naturena.
