‘I’m not a small coach’ – Nabi reveals big ambitions for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed his desire to transform the team into one that competes for every title every year.

Nabi has endured a disappointing campaign that has seen his side miss out on the top eight following a ninth-place finish in the league although he ended the club’s 10-year wait for a trophy with the Nedbank Cup win.

However, Nabi says winning the Nedbank Cup cannot mask the poor campaign they had as his stature as a coach and Chiefs’ standing as a giant club means they have to be challenging for the big trophies every season.

“I’m not a small coach, I’m not happy for the Nedbank, I’m not a small coach, not in a small team, I’m in a big team – it should be normal for Chiefs to win and play for the Nedbank title, you understand me?” Nabi told the media as per iDiski Times.

Will Nabi get time to achieve his objectives?

“I want every season, Chiefs need to play for the title. This is my objective, I am honest, I don’t need to defend myself – I know my quality, I have big confidence,” added the former Yanga and AS FAR coach.

While he is planning to challenge for titles every season, Nabi faces an uncertain future at Naturena as there have been reports that Chiefs could sack him after the poor campaign that saw his team win just eight of their 28 league matches to end up with 32 points.

Chiefs are set to conduct a review of the season which could result in Nabi leaving but if he survives, the tactician wants to be backed in the transfer market to turn around the club’s fortunes.

Nabi feels he has been let down by a squad that lacks quality, claiming his team were second in the PSL when it came to creating chances, but they were not converted, leading to the poor results.
