The potential move of Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien to Mamelodi Sundowns appears to be gaining rapid momentum, signaled by his notable absence from Stellies training this morning, as reported by SABC Sport.
Sundowns, who along with Kaizer Chiefs have long admired the Bafana Bafana international (though Chiefs recently signed two left-backs), seem to be prioritizing Basadien as a key target for the upcoming 2025/26 season and the MTN8.
BASADIEN OBSERVED TRAINING FROM THE SIDELINES
According to the Public Broadcaster, Basadien observed the morning training session from the sidelines.
Stellenbosch FC have, for some time, been unwilling to part with their defender, going as far as offering him a new long-term contract extension to demand high figures from interested clubs.

This resistance was reportedly a factor in Chiefs' inability to secure the player. However, Sundowns, who have big financial muscle are said to be keen on bringing the player on board.
The Brazilians have a track record of successfully negotiating for Stellies' top talent, having previously acquired Iqraam Rayners and Jayden Adams by submitting bids that left the Winelands club with no alternative but to sell.
Basadien's decision to skip training today strongly indicates that a deal could be finalized between the two clubs in the very near future.
The Brazilians haven’t made any reinforcements in their squad yet as they recently started their preparations for the new season with the same squad.
Meanwhile, according to FARPost, they also closing in on securing the services of Linvingston FC attacker Aphelele Teto.
