Superfan Mama Joy on Royal AM issues: ‘I won’t go back to Pirates’

Published on by Nkosiyabuya Sithole

Mama Joy Chauke, a fervent supporter of Royal AM and a former Orlando Pirates fan, has declared unwavering loyalty to her current club despite the recent challenges faced by Thwihli Thwahla.

Royal AM has been placed under administration by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) due to an outstanding debt of approximately R40 million owed by club owner Shawn Mkhize.

The financial strain has significantly impacted the club's operations, with players yet to receive their December salaries and facing delays in receiving their November salaries.

Furthermore, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has postponed Royal AM's upcoming match against Chippa United.

Addressing the ongoing difficulties, Mama Joy emphasized her unwavering support for the Pietermaritzburg-based club, stating that she will not return to her former club, Orlando Pirates.

MAMA JOY SPEAKS OUT ON ROYAL AM DIFFICULTIES

“People don't have peace. First of all, we are not in a good space, we are facing difficulties from all corners. But what remains is that I'm still with Thwihli Thwahla,” Chauke said, speaking in an exclusive with KickOff.com.

“I won't dare jump ship and run away from the Thwihli Thwahla troubles in their dark days because that's where they need my support the most.

“I didn't start following the club for the money, I wanted change. People might claim the custard is finished at Royal AM, but I won't go back to Pirates. I am still 100% fully committed to Thwihli Thwahla.

“I'm still in MaMkhize's corner, Khabazela kaMavovo, in good times and bad. It's unfortunate what is happening with SARS and whatever else.”
