Thembinkosi Lorch has opened up following his big-money transfer to Libyan side Al-Ittihad from Moroccan giants Wyad Athletic Club.
Lorch finalised a lucrative move to the highly-ambitious Libyan team at the weekend with the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward reportedly set to earn $75,000 (R1.2 million) per month and the Moroccan club receiving $1.5 million (R24 million) in transfer fees.
The 32-year-old has not officially departed and featured in Wadad’s CAF Confederation Cup match against Congolese side Maniema Union, which they won 1-0 on Sunday.

After the match, Lorch commented on his imminent departure from Morocco, expressing his gratitude to the club for giving him a chance to revive his career, having struggled for gametime at Sundowns before an initial sixth-month loan last January after which he made the move permanent at the end of the season.
“First of all, I’d like to thank the president of the team for bringing me here,” said Lorch, as quoted by Pan-Africa Football via iDiski Times.
“And I would like to thank the technical team, the coach and my teammates for welcoming me into this team. I wish them well.
“Coming to the game, I think we played well, especially in the second half. We had to dig deep to get the three points.”

Looking forward to his next adventure in Libya, Lorch is not thinking too far ahead but rather wants to finish his spell at Wyad in fine fashion with this weekend’s match against the Congolese side set to be his final match.
“Like I said, I would like to thank this team for giving me the opportunity to play – not everyone is getting the opportunity to play for a big team like Wydad,” he added. “I will take the opportunity until I retire, and I wish the team good luck.”
Lorch has played a total of 28 matches for Wydad and scored eight goals, five of them this season, while providing four assists.
