Nigeria will wrap up the group phase of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2024) with a game against Guinea-Bissau on Monday, 22 January 2024.
The Super Eagles remain unbeaten in Group A, having drawn with Equatorial Guinea before chalking an impressive victory against hosts Ivory Coast.
With Jose Peseiro’s side in a good position to finish as group winners, they are likely to go into the game against Guinea-Bissau with a full-strength line-up to avoid any of the heavyweights in the next round.
Guinea Bissau vs Nigeria combined XI
As we build up to Monday’s game, Afrik-Foot has compiled a combined XI of the best players from both Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali gets the nod in the post, having massively impressed in the two games he’s played at AFCON so far. The Chippa United shot-stopper played a key role as the Super Eagles kept a clean sheet against Ivory Coast last time out and made his aerial presence felt.
Forming the back four is Ola Aina, who put in a great shift as a wing-back against the Elephants, Guinea-Bissau Fali Cande, William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey.
In midfield, Frank Onyeka sits at the base and is supported by compatriot Alex Iwobi, while Moreto Cassam, who has stood out for Guinea-Bissau at AFCON 2024, takes the other spot in the middle of the part.
Predictably, the front three is dominated by Nigeria, with Victor Osimhen sitting on his throne as the main striker. Ademola Lookman occupies the left-wing position, while Guinea-Bissau’s Carlos Mane takes the other flank.
Notable mentions who missed our combined starting XI but made the substitutes bench are goalkeeper Ouparine Djoco, Semi Ajayi, Alfa Semedo, Zaidu Sanusi, Mauro Rodrigues and Samuel Chukwueze.
