Clubless Musa teases NPFL return, fans debate destination

Super Eagles veteran Ahmed Musa has sparked excitement among Nigerian football fans with a cryptic tweet suggesting a potential return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). 

The 31-year-old has been without a club since February 2024 after terminating his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor due to unpaid wages, leaving his future uncertain.

Musa, who didn’t feature at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has been exploring his next move following his release from Sivasspor.

With no offers emerging from Europe or the Middle East, speculation has mounted over a second return to the NPFL, a move that would mark the next chapter in Musa’s storied career.

Many tipped him to join Remo Stars, praising the club’s infrastructure and management.

Some Twitter fans talked about him returning to Jos (where his career began), which would see him join Plateau United.

Meanwhile, some pleaded for Musa to return to his former club, Kano Pillars, where he had already made a second debut in 2021. 

The possibility of the winger rejoining the NPFL has stirred a mix of nostalgia and anticipation among supporters of Nigerian football, who await confirmation of his next step.
