‘Consistency’ – Alex Iwobi spotlights Fulham’s biggest need for 2024/25 season

Published on by Godfred Budu

Alex Iwobi is eager for Fulham to finish their season on a high note at Kenilworth Road this Sunday and aims to bring more consistency to their game in the 2024/25 season.

With only one win in their last eight matches, Fulham's chances of a top-half finish have diminished. Iwobi understands the crucial need for consistent results next season to achieve progress.

Iwobi has made 31 appearances for the Cottagers in the English Premier League, starting 26 of them, and has scored five goals and recorded two assists.

Alex Iwobi: Fulham's Season, Personal Records, and Marco Silva

As Fulham prepares for their final match of the season against Luton Town, the Nigeria international reflects on the team's performance and his personal achievements.

Determined to end the season on a high note and bring more consistency to Fulham’s game in the upcoming 2024/25 season, Alex Iwobi shares his thoughts on their journey and aspirations.

“Just to end the season high, to prove to ourselves, prove to our fans that we are a good team, no matter who we play against,” the 27-year-old told club's official website.

“Whether that’s City or Luton, we treat teams with the same amount of respect, and try and get a result. We know the capabilities we have to beat teams. It’s just the run of results, we haven’t been consistent.

“We see [quality] in training every day, we’ve proven it in so many matches, it’s just remaining consistent has been our problem. But I’m sure going into next season we’ll figure it out and push up the table.”

Iwobi has made a significant impact in his first season with Fulham, matching his career-best tally of six goals, a record he also achieved while at Arsenal in the 2018/19 season.

Reflecting on the year, he said, “A bit of a roller-coaster, but it’s been a good season. We’ve had some memorable moments which we can cherish this season. I’ve had my best goal-scoring record again, hopefully, I can break it against Luton, but it’s been a good season.

“I’ve enjoyed working with Marco Silva and the team, they’ve welcomed me very well. Being back in London as well, I’ve enjoyed it, and I just want to kick on from this season and keep improving.”

Looking ahead to the final game, Iwobi acknowledges the challenge posed by Luton: “I feel their season’s been unfortunate, because they’ve had some games where they probably feel they should have won or got a result. It’s the last home game for them, so I’m sure they’ll want to end the season on a high and give something back to the fans.

“We know it’s not going to be an easy game, but we’d like to finish strong as well and end on a win.”

What is Iwobi's personal record for most goals in a single season?

During his time with Arsenal, Alex Iwobi showcased his goal-scoring prowess by achieving his personal record for most goals in a single season.

In the 2018-2019 campaign, Iwobi found the back of the net six times across various competitions.

Among his 51 appearances, three goals were scored in the Premier League, two in the Europa League, and one in the Emirates FA Cup.

Iwobi joined Fulham on 2 September 2023 for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut for the club on 16 September, coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute during a 1–0 victory against Luton Town.

He achieved his first league brace on 6 December, scoring twice in a 5–0 victory against Nottingham Forest at home.
