Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is in the top 10 for most expensive player sales out of Arsenal in the club’s entire history.
The London-based side, who are 13-time English champions and 14-time FA Cup winners, are ranked as the eighth most valuable football club in the world according to Forbes. However, they have a bizarrely underwhelming record when it comes to player sales, with their record sale being the transfer of midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool for £32 million in the summer of 2017.
Iwobi, who came up through the Gunners’ academy, departed the club in 2019 for Everton, before joining Fulham three years later. He placed second in the Cottagers’ 2024/25 Player of the Season vote, behind compatriot Calvin Bassey.

Arsenal’s most expensive sales: Where does Alex Iwobi rank?
As already established Oxlade-Chamberlain is the single player to have netted Arsenal the most revenue by way of a transfer fee.
"We like to sign Arsenal players maybe we'll sign another!" 😅

Nicolas Anelka, who left for Real Madrid in 1999, and Alexis Sanchez, who joined Manchester United in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan (the value of this is reckoned to be £30 million) share the no.2 spot, with Cesc Fabregas and Emile Smith Rowe, at £29 million and £27 million respectively, rounding out the top five.
Iwobi, who was sold for £25 million in a bid to balance the books, comes in at no.7 on the list.
