Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello believes Atalanta could be serious contenders in the Serie A title race if they manage to retain Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman.
Atalanta, under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, are in the midst of one of the most successful periods in their history.

Ademola Lookman makes the difference for Atalanta
Despite widespread interest, Atalanta have yet to receive any concrete offers for the 26-year-old, and Ademola Lookman appears set to remain in Bergamo for the 2024/2025 season.
Capello, however, insists that keeping Lookman could be crucial to Atalanta's title ambitions.
“I liked Atalanta’s moves, with the arrival of Bellanova, a great signing. And if Lookman stays, watch out for Gasp (Gasperini),” Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Atalanta began their Serie A campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Lecce but faltered in their second match, losing 2-1 to Torino, with Lookman conspicuously absent from both fixtures and focused on sorting out his future.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports Germany reports that Lookman has verbally agreed on personal terms with PSG, who are currently negotiating with Atalanta over a transfer fee. La Dea are holding out for at least €40 million, a figure PSG have yet to meet. Arsenal are also keeping a close eye on the situation, ready to make a move if talks between PSG and Atalanta fall through.
