Chelsea’s Super Eagles prospect finally ready to ‘make international decision’

Super Eagles fans may soon learn their fate, as Tosin Adarabioyo says he’s finally ready to decide on his international future.

The Chelsea defender, long linked with a switch to Nigeria, has dismissed reports suggesting he once turned down the three time African champions.

Speaking to journalist Oma Akatugba after Chelsea’s Europa Conference League final win over Real Betis, the 27-year-old cleared the air.

“I’ve never turned down Nigeria, and I’ve never had any conversations with them to say that I will be going to Nigeria.

“At the point of last season, when there was a little bit of conversation, I told the club I just wanted to focus on club football in my last year at Fulham… Now I’m at Chelsea in my first year, which I wanted to concentrate on again, and I think now is going to be the time that I need to make a decision.”

Super Eagles interest grows as Adarabioyo attracts eyes from Abuja

Adarabioyo’s name has circulated in Nigerian football circles for years. Technical director Augustine Eguavoen has previously attended his matches, while calls from fans have grown louder with each Premier League appearance.

Though yet to earn a senior cap for either England or Nigeria, the defender’s calm presence and aerial dominance have made him an attractive option for the Super Eagles, particularly with the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers approaching.

With coach Eric Chelle looking to tighten his backline, Adarabioyo’s potential arrival could come at just the right time.
