Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was absent as AC Milan suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bologna in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Wednesday.

Portugal international Rafael Leão gave the visitors the lead in the 43rd minute, but the hosts responded swiftly, leveling the score just three minutes into the second half through Santiago Castro.

Bologna then completed their comeback in the 82nd minute, with Dan Ndoye netting the decisive winner.

Thursday's result extends Sergio Conceição's side's winless streak to three matches across all competitions, following a defeat to Torino and a draw against Feyenoord. As a result, they now sit eighth in the Serie A standings with 41 points from 26 games.

Chukwueze’s struggles at Milan: Limited minutes and uncertain future

Samuel Chukwueze’s time at AC Milan has been anything but smooth since his summer move from Villarreal in 2023. The Nigerian winger has struggled for consistent game time, making 28 appearances across all competitions but starting only 11 times.

With just two goals and one assist to his name, and averaging 41 minutes per game, he has found it difficult to cement a place in the Rossoneri’s setup despite working under three different managers.

As the season progresses, speculation surrounding his future continues to intensify. Reports suggest that clubs like Fulham, Real Sociedad, Besiktas, and an unnamed Saudi Pro League side are monitoring his situation, potentially setting the stage for a summer departure.

With limited opportunities at Milan, Chukwueze could be looking for a fresh start elsewhere to revive his career.
