Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche could be forced to secure a move away from Getafe this summer following the expiration of his loan spell at Crystal Palace, Afrik-Foot reports.
Uche is coming off a challenging year in London. The midfielder joined Crystal Palace from Getafe on a season-long loan last summer, a move that initially generated massive excitement.
At the time, it seemed the English Eagles had acquired a genuine gem, following Uche’s impressive debut campaign in La Liga where he contributed five goals and eight assists in 41 appearances.

However, life under manager Oliver Glasner failed to live up to those lofty expectations.
Uche struggled for consistency, managing just two goals and one assist in 22 appearances for Crystal Palace in the recently concluded campaign. Most of his game time came from the substitutes’ bench, and he has frozen out of the squad completely, having not featured in a match since March 5.
Following his difficult stint in the Premier League, Uche has now returned to his parent club, Getafe, where he remains under contract until 2028.
Yet, despite returning to his Spanish employers, the player’s long-term future is far from resolved.
Why Christantus Uche’s Future Still Hangs in the Balance

Although Uche is back on the books at Getafe, his career remains in limbo due to the club’s ongoing financial struggles.
The main reason he was loaned out last summer was to help the Spanish side slash their wage bill and comply with La Liga’s stringent economic regulations. In fact, Uche was initially marked for a permanent sale.
Because Getafe failed to agree on a permanent transfer with Crystal Palace, they now find themselves trapped in a similar financial predicament to last season. Shockingly, even qualifying for the UEFA Conference League has not alleviated their financial strain.
According to Sp Getafe, the club is still legally mandated by La Liga to sanction a major player sale this summer to satisfy salary cap rules. Consequently, Uche remains one of the primary candidates expected to be cashed in on before the window shuts.
Everton and Real Betis Ready to Pounce?

Despite his struggles in England, Uche’s stock remains high across Europe. Recent reports have linked the 23-year-old with a move to Everton, where manager David Moyes is eager to bolster his midfield options ahead of next season.
Real Betis are also heavily credited with an interest in the former Ceuta man. The Spanish outfit is actively searching for versatile reinforcements in both midfield and attack, especially as they prepare for a demanding UEFA Champions League campaign next season.
With several other clubs in England and Spain keeping close tabs on his situation, Uche looks highly likely to pack his bags and leave Getafe permanently this summer.
