Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has emerged as a transfer target for Copa del Rey champions Real Sociedad ahead of a possible summer move, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 23-year-old’s future has been surrounded by uncertainty since the end of last season following a disappointing loan spell at Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Uche joined the Eagles on a season-long loan from Getafe last summer. Although he showed flashes of his quality whenever he was given an opportunity, he struggled for regular playing time and spent long periods on the bench.
The Super Eagles midfielder later admitted his frustration over the lack of minutes and Crystal Palace eventually decided against activating their option to make the move permanent, leaving Uche to return to Getafe, where an important decision now awaits regarding his future.

Real Sociedad join race for Christantus Uche
According to Fichajes, Real Sociedad have identified the Nigerian midfielder as a transfer target as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Uche has already returned to Getafe following the expiration of his loan deal, but there are still doubts over whether he will remain at the Spanish club. The Spanish club would hope to sanction a permanent transfer for the ex-Ceuta man this summer in order to generate funds to reinvest in the squad this summer.
The Super Eagles midfielder, who is valued at around €12 million according to Transfermarkt, has also been linked with Premier League side Everton as well as fellow La Liga outfit Real Betis and Serie A giants AC Milan, giving him several options should he decide to leave Getafe.

However, Real Sociedad are now ready to enter the race for his signature as they continue their search for reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.
Why Real Sociedad want the Super Eagles star
Real Sociedad’s interest in Uche is understandable given the qualities he offers and there are several key attributes that makes the Super Eagles star an attractive option.
One of the 23-year-old’s biggest strengths is his versatility. The Super Eagles midfielder is capable of playing in several positions, giving his coach several options on the pitch. While he is naturally comfortable in central midfield, he can also operate in more advanced attacking roles whenever required.
His ability to contribute in different areas of the pitch makes him a valuable asset, especially against teams that defend deep. Uche is comfortable carrying the ball forward, linking play between midfield and attack, and helping dictate the tempo of games.

He has already demonstrated these qualities during his spells with both Getafe and Crystal Palace, showing that he can adapt to different tactical systems.
Another major factor behind Real Sociedad’s interest is Uche’s familiarity with La Liga. The Nigerian enjoyed a breakthrough period at Getafe before his move to Crystal Palace, producing several impressive performances and establishing himself as an important member of the squad.
Although his loan spell in England did not go as planned, he already understands the demands of Spanish football and would require little time to adapt if he joined another La Liga side.
That experience makes him a safer option than signing a player who would need time to settle into the league and it is one of the reasons Real Sociedad view him as an ideal addition.

A move to Real Sociedad could provide Uche with the fresh start he needs after a frustrating spell at Crystal Palace and could help him rediscover the form he showed at Getafe.
With interest growing from clubs across England, Spain and Italy, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining where the Nigerian midfielder continues his career next season.
