Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga continues to stir speculation, with former England international Peter Crouch advocating for the Nigerian forward to remain in Europe.
Osimhen’s brace in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League has brought the Turkish club to the top of their group and reaffirmed Osimhen’s place on the radar of Europe’s elite.
Having weathered a protracted transfer saga over the summer, featuring Chelsea and Saudi club Al-Ahli as frontrunners. he ultimately chose Galatasaray, signing a season-long loan from Napoli.
Though Chelsea and Al-Ahli both pursued deals, negotiations with the Premier League side fell through, and a provisional agreement with Al-Ahli also stalled.
Now, the 25-year-old’s €75 million release clause has sparked new interest, with Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich closely monitoring the Nigerian striker’s situation.
Keep it in Europe, Crouch tells Osimhen
Adding to the mounting discourse, former England and Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has weighed in, urging the Nigeria international to resist a potential Saudi move in favor of remaining in European football.
“I think he [Osimhen] can go to most clubs in world football. I just hope he doesn’t end up in Saudi Arabia,” Crouch commented. “He is so strong, powerful, fantastic in the air, he has a good touch, he can play.”
Crouch highlighted the importance of the next move, adding, “Galatasaray is a stop-gap to wind his contract with Napoli and bring the fee down. His next move is crucial. We’d love to see him play in Europe.”
With rumors of a January exit clause dismissed by both Galatasaray and Osimhen, the forward is expected to complete his season in Turkey.
Sources close to the player believe there will be fierce competition for his signature come June 2025, with major clubs prepared to meet his release clause and bring him back to Europe’s top stage.
