Fenerbahçe vice president Acun Ilıcalı has openly dismissed reports suggesting the club is pursuing Galatasaray and Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, whose electric start in the Süper Lig has captured the attention of fans and pundits alike.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan, the Super Eagles striker has adapted seamlessly to Turkish football, netting six goals in his first six league games, including a recent brace against Samsunspor.
In nine appearances overall, Osimhen has scored four goals and provided four assists, establishing himself as a star player at RAMS Park. His performances have led to rumors of a permanent move to Galatasaray, though the player is also linked to a potential Premier League switch after Chelsea’s failed pursuit last summer.
Speaking to Haber Ekspres, Ilıcalı stated, “Fenerbahçe has nothing to do with the Osimhen transfer. The news is completely unfounded.”
Break clause sparks Osimhen speculation
Earlier reports had suggested Fenerbahçe might explore a January move for the former Lille forward, with Neoxmedya claiming that Fenerbahçe has authorized talks with Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna.
The Yellow Canaries have Edin Dzeko and Youssef En-Nesyri as strikers. Dzeko has one more league goal than Osimhen but En-Nesyri has struggled to impress since joining the club in the summer.
Notably, the Lagos-born forward's loan deal reportedly includes a break clause, allowing him to depart if a preferred European club meets his €75 million buyout clause.
Osimhen’s name has also been floated in connection with clubs like PSG, Chelsea, and some Saudi Pro League teams.
Whether he continues to shine in the Süper Lig or moves elsewhere, the Nigerian striker’s impressive form has certainly stirred interest across Europe.
