Paris Saint-Germain Féminine have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini.
The 23-year-old arrives from Italian giants Juventus after a dazzling six-month spell in Turin and has signed a three-year contract.
Echegini, nicknamed “Joe,” wasted little time making her mark in Italy. Despite joining Juventus in January 2024, she quickly established herself as a key player, scoring a remarkable 10 goals and contributing an assist in just 16 appearances.
Her impact was undeniable, playing a pivotal role in securing Champions League qualification for the Bianconere. Her performances were further recognized with a place in the Serie A Team of the Year and the coveted Best Young Player award.
Earlier this week, Echegini penned a heartfelt message to Juventus fans, hinting at her desire for a new challenge. This desire has materialized in the form of a prestigious move to PSG, which was announced by the club on Wednesday with a video of former midfield maestro Austin Jay-Jay Okocha.
Jennifer Echegini’s first words in Paris
“I am experiencing a great moment in my career today,” Echegini declared upon signing with the French giants. “Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a huge source of pride. I am very proud to join a club that is recognized around the world for its ambition and excellence.
“I can't wait to get started and I can't wait to give the best of myself to try to win, with my teammates and for the supporters, as many trophies as possible,” she enthused.
Echegini becomes the second Nigerian player to don the PSG Féminines shirt, following in the footsteps of defender Nicole Payne, who joined the club in July 2023 but is currently on loan at the Portland Thorns.
On the international stage, Echegini represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and is set to be a key figure for Nigeria at the upcoming Olympics in Paris.
