Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman endured a challenging outing as Fiorentina edged past Atalanta with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Moise Kean struck in first-half stoppage time to condemn Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to their second consecutive defeat, following their loss to Inter Milan before the international break.
Lookman found himself tightly marked and unable to influence the game as La Viola’s defensive discipline proved too much for Gasperini’s side.

Despite the defeat, La Dea remain third in the Serie A standings with 58 points, trailing league leaders Inter Milan by six points and second-placed Napoli by three points. However, both Inter and Napoli have a game in hand, putting further pressure on the Bergamo outfit in the race for the top spots.
Lookman endures frustrating outing as Fiorentina stifle Atalanta’s attack
Ademola Lookman endured a subdued performance as Atalanta struggled to break down Fiorentina’s disciplined defence.
The Super Eagles forward was on the pitch for 55 minutes before being replaced by Daniel Maldini, but he found it difficult to make a meaningful impact. Lookman registered no shots on target or off target, with his only attempt being blocked.
He completed one successful dribble from one attempt, had 27 touches, and maintained an 87% pass accuracy, completing 13 of his 15 passes.

However, he won just one of his three ground duels, highlighting his struggles against Fiorentina’s resolute backline.
In the ongoing campaign, Ademola Lookman has been a key attacking force for Atalanta, netting 18 goals and providing six assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old has maintained an impressive influence on the Europa League champions, averaging 69 minutes per game throughout the season.
