Super Eagles star, Moses Simon has no regrets about staying at FC Nantes, despite interest from bigger clubs in recent years.

The 29-year-old Nigerian winger, who has been a key player for the French side since arriving in 2019, believes his situation at Nantes suits him perfectly.

He has been a key figure for the Yellow Canaries since joining from Levante in 2020, initially on loan. Simon has contributed to 73 goals in 191 games, averaging a goal or assist every 2.62 games, and led them to Coupe de France glory in 2022.

The 2022 CAF POTY nominee acknowledged that moving to a bigger club could mean less playing time, something he isn’t willing to risk.

“But when you love your club, when you get on well with everyone, you can stay, so it's not a problem,” he told L'Équipe.

This season alone, Simon has six goals and seven assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances, directly contributing to nearly half of Nantes' league goals.

His influence is undeniable. Whenever he’s on the pitch, Nantes look a different side. His pace, creativity, and ability to stretch defenses have made him a constant threat in Ligue 1.

Over the years, Moses Simon has attracted interest from clubs in England and France.

Newcastle United and Leeds United reportedly considered signing him in 2022, while Lyon, Lille, and Nice have also been linked.

However, none of those moves materialized, and Simon doesn’t seem too bothered about it.

“You can be at a bigger club, not playing, and not be happy,” the Super Eagles winger admitted.

With his contract running until June 2026, Simon will be 31 when it expires, an age where a move to a major club becomes more difficult.
