Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray vs Stuttgart: Preview, team news, tips & H2H

Published on by

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is the biggest question for Galatasaray as Stuttgart visit RAMS Park on Tuesday, with his fitness to be tested close to kickoff.

Osimhen has 10 goals in all competitions this season, nine of them in the Süper Lig, and his only Champions League goal so far came against Lille.

Galatasaray are 23rd in the league phase on three points, one place inside the knockout play-off zone, while unbeaten Stuttgart are sixth on seven points.

A home win would lift the Turkish side to six points, and kickoff in Istanbul is at 6:45 pm Nigeria time.

Galatasaray vs Stuttgart form and context

Galatasaray have won their last four matches in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and conceding three, and lead the Süper Lig with 25 points from 10 games.

Europe has been rougher, with a 3-1 defeat at Sporting on September 9 and a 4-1 home loss to Barcelona on October 13 before a 4-2 win at Lille on October 21.

That is nine goals conceded in three games without a clean sheet, although Galatasaray have scored in every one of them and have not yet won at home in the league phase.

Their latest outing was a 4-0 win at Konyaspor on October 30, where Osimhen scored after 12 minutes before Yunus Akgün, Aleksei Batrakov and a Rafael Leão penalty added the rest.

Stuttgart opened with a 3-1 win over Viking and a 3-0 win at Slovan Bratislava before a 1-1 home draw with Atlético Madrid on October 20.

They have conceded only twice in Europe, yet domestic form is uneven, with five defeats in eight Bundesliga games and nine points from them.

A 4-2 win at Leverkusen on October 31 ended a two-game league losing run, with Ermedin Demirović scoring twice.

Demirović has four of Stuttgart’s seven Champions League goals, and the visitors have scored in each of their last 11 away matches in the group and league phases.

Galatasaray vs Stuttgart head-to-head

The clubs have never met in a competitive match, so there is no reverse fixture or previous result to lean on.

Galatasaray have not beaten a German side at home since a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1992/93 UEFA Cup, drawing five and losing four of the nine home games since.

Stuttgart’s only previous match against Turkish opposition was a 1-0 defeat at Fenerbahçe in last season’s Europa League league phase.

Neither record says much about Tuesday, so the analysis below rests on current form and availability.

Team News: Galatasaray vs Stuttgart

Galatasaray SK

Osimhen was substituted after 61 minutes at Konyaspor and is Galatasaray’s only real doubt, with a decision expected only hours before kickoff.

Leão is available after playing and scoring at Konyaspor, so Okan Buruk has an attacking alternative if the Super Eagles forward is not risked.

Abdülkerim Bardakçı is free to play, as his two-match ban for the sending-off in the October 26 derby against Fenerbahçe applies to Süper Lig fixtures only.

VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart are without Angelo Stiller, who went off at half-time of the DFB-Pokal win at Paderborn on October 28 with an adductor injury, and Leo Sauer, who has a gluteal muscle problem.

Josha Vagnoman and Tiago Tomás are also out with muscle injuries, while Lorenz Assignon is back after shoulder surgery.

Sebastian Hoeneß used a 3-4-2-1 at Leverkusen, but most predicted lineups show a 4-2-3-1, which is the shape used below.

Buruk was appointed Galatasaray head coach in June 2022 and has won the Süper Lig in each of his four seasons in charge, along with the Turkish Cup in 2024/25.

Hoeneß took over Stuttgart in April 2023, kept them up that season through a relegation play-off against Hamburg, then led them to second place in 2023/24 and the DFB-Pokal in 2025.

Tactical preview: Galatasaray vs Stuttgart

Stuttgart have averaged 60% possession in the league phase against 45% for Galatasaray, so the visitors will expect to dominate the ball.

Galatasaray have won more corners than their opponents in 78% of their last 10 matches in all competitions, which shows they can pin teams back even without the ball for long spells.

Stuttgart have conceded 14.5 shots per game over the same run, the clearest weakness in their recent numbers.

Galatasaray have conceded 1.8 goals per game over the same period, so their back line will be tested by a Stuttgart attack led by an in-form Demirović.

Both sides have scored first in 80% of those 10 matches, which points to an early goal deciding how cautious either team becomes.
