Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has backed Victor Osimhen’s decision to stay put during the just-concluded winter transfer window.
The 26-year-old joined the Turkish giants on loan after a deadline-day move away from Napoli fell through during the summer transfer window.
Osimhen's loan deal with Galatasaray is set for a season and includes a break clause that allowed him to leave in January if any of his preferred European clubs showed interest and were willing to meet his €75 million (£63.2 million) buyout clause—an option that ultimately went unused despite interest from several clubs.

Amuneke hails Osimhen’s decision as a smart career move
In a recent interview with Africa Foot, Amueike praised Osimhen’s decision to remain at Galatasaray during the winter transfer window, describing it as a smart and well-calculated move that will ultimately benefit both the player and his club.
“I think he made the right decision to stay at Galatasaray during the winter transfer window and not rush into transfers, despite multiple interests. He was massively welcomed and appreciated in Turkey, and it is only important that he repays it with gratitude.

“He was able to regain his full potential and all this is due to the fact that he was given a chance when he fell out with the people of Naples. He will receive the offers in June and they will be bigger and better for him and his mother team, Napoli.
“He will leave Galatasaray a satisfied man, and the club and fans will have no problem with him either. Overall, it was well calculated from Osimhen and his team.”
Osimhen has scored 17 goals and registered five assists in 22 games for the Turkish giants so far this season.
