Victor Osimhen continued his excellent form for Galatasaray, netting his 10th goal of the season in a 3-2 away victory against Sivasspor on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigerian forward won and converted a decisive penalty deep into first-half stoppage time, helping his side secure their 12th win of the season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Osimhen has now scored seven goals and provided three assists in nine league appearances for the Yellow and Reds, with three additional strikes coming in the UEFA Europa League.
The 25-year-old’s impactful display began early, with the forward nearly scoring in the 8th minute after a through ball from Dries Mertens.
Clinical Osimhen makes a difference
Osimhen’s single goal came from a penalty he won and converted with confidence. With an expected goals (xG) value of 0.99, his positioning and ability to draw fouls in key areas proved crucial in breaking down Sivasspor’s defensive line.
Though he didn’t provide an assist, his expected assists (xA) of 0.12 demonstrated his willingness to link up play and create opportunities for teammates.
The striker’s efficiency in front of goal was reflected in his shooting statistics, with two of his three attempts hitting the target.
Beyond his goal, Osimhen completed three dribbles successfully out of three attempts, showcasing his flair and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations.
With only 23 touches, Osimhen made the most of limited involvement. He registered a passing accuracy of 67%, completing six out of nine passes. Among these, one was a key pass that opened up a significant opportunity for his team, while his only attempted cross was accurate.
With this win, Galatasaray extended their lead at the top of the Super Lig table to 38 points, six clear of rivals Fenerbahçe.
