Victor Osimhen vs Stuttgart: Latest injury update on Galatasaray and Nigeria star

Published on by

Victor Osimhen is expected to be available for Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash with VfB Stuttgart after concerns over his fitness during Friday’s 4-0 win against Konyaspor.

The Super Eagles striker scored with a powerful header in the 12th minute but appeared to suffer discomfort later in the first half and received treatment on the pitch.

He continued playing before head coach Okan Buruk substituted him in the 61st minute, bringing on Deniz Gül.

Concerns grew after the match when footage showed Osimhen limping and hopping as he walked over to greet Galatasaray’s travelling supporters.

The images raised doubts about his availability for Tuesday’s Champions League game at RAMS Park.

Victor Osimhen fit for Galatasaray vs Stuttgart

Victor Osimhen returned to full team training on Monday, putting Galatasaray in a better position ahead of the meeting with Stuttgart.

The Nigerian striker took part in the final preparations with his teammates without any reported restrictions, suggesting that the discomfort he experienced against Konyaspor was not serious.

Buruk’s decision to withdraw him in the 61st minute also allowed the striker to rest, with Galatasaray already holding a comfortable lead.

Osimhen is expected to start against Stuttgart, although Buruk will make the final decision on his team selection.

The 27-year-old, who has three goals in two games against Germany opposition in the Champions League, has scored nine goals in the Turkish Süper Lig this season and has 10 goals in 10 appearances across all competitions.

Galatasaray will need him at his best against a Stuttgart side that has yet to lose in Europe and has conceded only twice in the Champions League league phase.

The Turkish champions have three points and sit 23rd in the standings. A home win would strengthen their position as they fight for a place in the knockout play-offs.

With Osimhen back in training, Galatasaray will be hoping their leading scorer can continue his fine form against the German side.
