Former Nigeria U23 forward Promise David found the net as Union St. Gilloise secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sint-Truidense VV at the Joseph Marien Stadium.

David opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 60th minute after Bruno Godeau handled the ball in the box.

The Nigerian striker calmly slotted his effort down the middle, marking his eighth league goal of the season and taking his total goal contributions to 10 (eight goals, two assists).

The 23-year-old nearly got on the scoresheet earlier in the game when his header struck the post in the eighth minute. He was also booked for a foul on Wolke Janssens in the 47th minute before being substituted in the 69th minute for Kevin Rodriguez.

A mixed performance for David

David played 69 minutes, registering 17 touches. He had one shot on target, one off target, and hit the woodwork once. However, he failed to complete any of his attempted dribbles and missed a big chance.

In possession, the Nigerian completed seven of his 10 passes, including one key pass, but struggled with long balls, failing to connect with his only attempt. He also failed to register any accurate crosses.

Physically, he was involved in three duels, winning two aerial battles but losing his only ground duel.

Sint-Truidense found an equalizer in the 76th minute when Adriano Bertaccini headed home a cross from Louis Patris. However, Union SG sealed the win deep into stoppage time as Franjo Ivanovic converted a late penalty to extend their lead at the top of the Belgian Pro League standings.
