Samuel Chukwueze involvement in Unity Cup thrown into major doubt by latest development

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has emerged as a major doubt for AC Milan’s crucial Serie A encounter against Roma, having missed Friday’s training session—a development that has sparked concern within the Rossoneri camp ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

Chukwueze, who made a brief appearance in Milan’s 1-0 Coppa Italia final loss to Bologna, may have played his final game of the season — and potentially his last in a Milan shirt — if the extent of his injury is confirmed.

Chukwueze’s potential absence would be a blow not only to his club but also to his country, as the Super Eagles prepare to feature in the 2025 Unity Cup at the Gtech Community Stadium in the UK later this month.

The tournament, scheduled for May 27 and 31, will see Nigeria face off against familiar rivals Ghana, as well as Caribbean sides Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.

How long is Samuel Chukwueze out of action?

Samuel Chukwueze’s availability for AC Milan’s upcoming fixtures is in doubt after the winger missed training due to inflammation of the pubic bone.

The 25-year-old has struggled for consistent game time since joining AC Milan from Spanish side Villarreal in the summer of 2023.

Despite working under three different managers during his time at the San Siro, he has yet to establish himself as a regular fixture in the Rossoneri's starting lineup.

This season, the 25-year-old has featured in 35 matches for Sergio Conceicao’s side, starting 11 games, during which he has scored five goals and contributed two assists, while averaging 36 minutes of playing time per appearance.

Chukwueze is anticipated to depart Milan at the end of the season and has been previously linked with Premier League club Fulham as well as Serie A side Bologna.
