Samuel Chukwueze’s future is once again uncertain as both Fulham FC and AC Milan hesitate over a permanent deal for the Super Eagles winger, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 26-year-old joined Fulham on a season-long loan in September 2025, leaving the bright lights of San Siro for a fresh start at Craven Cottage. Since then, he has slowly rebuilt his confidence and rhythm in the Premier League.
Chukwueze has delivered solid numbers in England, scoring three goals and providing four assists during the campaign. While those figures may not seem explosive, they tell only part of the story. Under manager Marco Silva, he has become a key part of Fulham’s attacking shape, especially on the right wing where his pace and dribbling stretch defences.
His connection with fellow Nigeria internationals Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi has also played a big role. The trio have brought energy and understanding to Fulham’s play, helping Chukwueze rediscover the confidence he struggled to find during his difficult spell in Italy.

However, the main issue now is money. The loan deal includes a buyout clause worth €24 million, which could rise to €28 million with add-ons. Fulham’s coaching staff are believed to be keen on keeping him, but the club’s hierarchy are not fully convinced the price represents good value.
On the other side, AC Milan are clear in their position. The Italian giants want to sell the winger permanently as they look to raise funds for the summer transfer window. With his contract running until 2028, Milan are under no pressure to accept a low offer, but they are open to negotiations if Fulham come back with a reasonable bid.
If no agreement is reached, Chukwueze could once again find himself on the move.

Samuel Chukwueze: What next if Fulham and Milan fail to agree?
Should Fulham decide against triggering the clause or fail to negotiate a lower fee, several doors could open for Chukwueze ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
Staying in the Premier League looks like the most likely option. Clubs such as West Ham United are believed to be monitoring his situation as they search for more attacking width. Crystal Palace have also been linked, especially if the deal between Fulham and Milan collapses completely.
A return to Spain is another realistic path. Chukwueze enjoyed some of his best football with Villarreal CF in La Liga, where his dribbling ability and flair made him one of the most exciting wide players in the league. Spanish clubs still value that style, and a move back could suit him.

Germany could also emerge as a surprise destination. Teams in the Bundesliga are known for fast, transition-based football, which fits Chukwueze’s strengths. If Milan reduce their asking price, interest from Germany could quickly become serious.
Remaining in Italy is less likely but still possible. Although he does not appear to be part of long-term plans under Massimiliano Allegri, other Serie A sides may see an opportunity to sign a player with proven quality at a reduced fee.
Still, everything depends on negotiations between Fulham and AC Milan in the coming days. But one thing that is clear is that after rebuilding his form in England, Samuel Chukwueze is once again a valuable player in the transfer market. And his next move could shape the next chapter of his career.
