Former Nigeria international John Mikel Obi has addressed Victor Osimhen’s ongoing transfer uncertainty.

The pair enjoy a strong relationship, with the former Chelsea midfielder making no secret of his desire to see his compatriot wind up at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Obi has, once again, chimed in on Osimhen’s future, and is against a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, with whom the former Napoli man has been strongly linked ahead of the imminent Club World Cup.

Is Victor Osimhen on the brink of Saudi transfer?

Despite interest from all of the traditional ‘Big Four’ in the Premier League, no concrete bids have been made for Osimhen from England, leaving him seemingly stuck between staying at Galatasaray or moving to the Middle East.

Mikel Obi, however, is refusing to give up hope on the possibility of the former Serie A capocannoniere making his mark in English football, branding the idea of a transfer to Saudi Arabia “a shame.”

“Osimhen is a player at (top four) level. I'd love to see him at Arsenal or Manchester United. I'd love him to play for Chelsea.

“I don't want to see him in Saudi Arabia right now because there's still a lot he can offer in Europe. It'd be a shame to see him go there. I'd like to see it in the Champions League.

“We talked, but I can't share details. All I know is he wants to be at the top of Europe.”

With Al Hilal’s appointment of Champions League finalist Simone Inzaghi, the Saudi giants are keen to move quickly for their top target.
