Cyriel Dessers’ season has come to an early end following surgery on a thigh injury. The Nigerian striker suffered the injury during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Initial attempts at conservative rehabilitation failed after he felt discomfort during training. The Panathinaikos forward underwent the procedure abroad to resolve a damaged thigh tendon.

He is expected to remain sidelined until July, missing the remainder of the current season. The injury is a blow for Panathinaikos, where Dessers had made a strong initial impact.

Since joining from Rangers, he had scored important goals in both the league and cup. The 29-year-old is now targeting a return for the 2026/2027 pre-season campaign. Read more here.

Barcelona are exploring ways to secure a high-profile signing like Victor Osimhen to lead their frontline for the next few years.

But due to strict financial regulations and the significant cost of the move, the club must balance their books by offloading several key squad members.

This strategy involves identifying players with high market value or those whose departure would significantly alleviate the current wage burden.

Several key figures have been identified as potential candidates to be moved on to generate the necessary capital. These include a highly-rated defensive mainstay, a high-earning midfield regular, and a veteran forward whose exit would free up both a starting position and a substantial portion of the budget. So who are the players that could be sold to fund Osimhen’s purchase? Read more here.
