Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru were the focal points in an enthralling 1-1 draw between Atalanta and Lazio in Serie A’s Matchday 18.

Both players made decisive contributions, with Dele-Bashiru scoring for Lazio and Lookman providing a crucial assist for Atalanta’s late equalizer.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a composed finish, capitalizing on Nicolò Rovella’s incisive through ball.

Dele-Bashiru’s night of brilliance

The Super Eagles midfielder, who has now netted twice in nine Serie A appearances this season, demonstrated his growing influence in Lazio’s midfield.

Dele-Bashiru was effective throughout the match, completing 17 of his 22 passes (77%) and delivering two key passes.

Though he attempted no crosses or long balls, his touches (31) and ball distribution highlighted his efficiency. Defensively, he contributed by winning one of two ground duels and contesting an aerial duel.

Lookman leads Atalanta’s fightback

Ademola Lookman was instrumental in Atalanta’s comeback. After a frustrating night that saw him hit the post in the 75th minute and miss two big chances, the 27-year-old winger delivered a pinpoint assist in the 88th minute.

His clever pass found Marco Brescianini, who scored from close range to rescue a point for Atalanta.

Despite failing to score, Lookman’s numbers showed his influence. He registered an xG of 0.58 and an xA of 0.77, highlighting his threat in the final third.

Lookman attempted five shots, with two on target and one striking the woodwork, but was unable to convert. He completed 12 of 17 passes (71%) and created one key pass. However, his dribble attempt was unsuccessful, and he struggled to impose himself in ground duels.

Atalanta temporarily sit atop the Serie A table with 41 points, though second-placed Inter Milan, with a game in hand and a superior goal difference, could reclaim the summit.

Lazio remain fourth, accumulating 35 points from 18 matches.
