Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah might miss the Super Eagles' crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya. Nigeria host the Mediterranean Knights on Friday, October 11, before facing them again in Benina just four days later.
However, concerns over Ndah’s fitness loom large, casting doubt on his participation in both matches.
The 26-year-old played a vital role in Orlando Pirates' recent 3-0 demolition of Polokwane City, where his brilliant performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
Unfortunately, his form took a turn when he missed Pirates’ 1-0 victory over Richards Bay last weekend, raising questions about his availability for upcoming key fixtures.
Injuries threaten Olisa Ndah’s Super Eagles availability
Jose Riveiro, Orlando Pirates' head coach, confirmed that Ndah picked up an injury during the Polokwane City clash, sidelining him for their last match.
The coach also expressed uncertainty over whether the Nigeria defender will recover in time for Pirates' upcoming MTN8 final against Stellenbosch.
Riveiro, who spoke to journalists after the match on Sunday said, “In our last game against Polokwane City, both Olisa Ndah and Monnapule Saleng were subbed because of different injuries; that’s the reason they were not playing (against Richards Bay).
“Actually, we’re not 100% sure that they are going to be at the final (against Stellenbosch).”
With Super Eagles' interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, set to announce his squad for the Libya games, Ndah’s absence is looking likely to leave a significant gap in Nigeria’s defence.
