Umar Sadiq: Valencia eager to renew ‘free trial’ subscription for lanky striker

With concrete offers at a premium, Umar Sadiq looks set for a return to Mestalla for 2025/26.

LaLiga side Valencia have made a proposal for the Nigeria international, who spent half a season on loan with Los Che starting in January. The 28-year-old was instrumental in the club’s fight against relegation, scoring five goals in 15 league appearances and winning the LaLiga Goal of the Month award in March.

Latest reports suggest that the cash-strapped six-time Spanish champions have made an offer to re-acquire Sadiq on another loan deal with an option to buy.

Who else is interested in Umar Sadiq?

Offers for the former Roma man have been thin on the ground this summer. Despite parent club Real Sociedad making clear that he is surplus to requirements, they have been unable to drum up sufficient interest.

The likes of Celta de Vigo, Girona and Alavés have reportedly all made enquiries, and there have even been suggestions the striker could return to former side Almeria for the 2025/26 campaign.

However, Valencia’s interest is so far the most solid. Considering the move to Mestalla saw him rediscover his popularity with Nigeria fans and earned him a recall to the Super Eagles, it may well be the best decision for Sadiq.
