Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been excluded from Galatasaray’s squad to face Konyaspor this weekend, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Nigerian talisman played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s emphatic 5-2 win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.
Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, he provided an assist and was heavily involved in two other goals for the Cimbom.

However, he won’t be able to replicate that performance against Konyaspor at the Konya Büyükşehir Belediye Stadyumu, as he has been left out of the traveling party.
While Galatasaray typically shares photos and videos of their stars from every training session, Osimhen was conspicuously missing from both the Thursday and Friday sessions.

According to the club, the 27-year-old is dealing with pain in his right knee. As a precautionary measure, he will be rested to prevent a more serious injury or further aggravation.
Can Galatasaray Defeat Konyaspor Without Victor Osimhen?
Galatasaray enter the match against Konyaspor as heavy favorites. A massive 35 points and 13 places separate the two sides on the Süper Lig table; the Cimbom sit top with 55 points, while their hosts are 14th with 20 points from 22 games.

The Turkish champions dominated the reverse fixture earlier this season, claiming a 3-1 win. Interestingly, Osimhen was also unavailable for that match due to an ankle injury. Goals from Lucas Torreira, Mauro Icardi, and Yunus Akgün secured the points for the Istanbul giants on that occasion.
Heading into this return fixture, coach Okan Buruk has plenty of attacking depth. Stars like Icardi, Leroy Sané, Akgün, and Noa Lang are expected to shoulder the offensive burden in Osimhen’s absence.

A victory is non-negotiable for the Cimbom, as rivals Fenerbahçe are just three points behind and breathing down their necks.
The club will be sweating on Osimhen’s fitness, hoping he returns in time for the second leg of their Champions League showdown against Juventus in Turin.
Having spent four years at Napoli, Osimhen understands Italian football perfectly, making his presence vital for the return leg.
Galatasaray’s medical team will be doing everything possible to ensure their star signing is fit and ready to lead the line in Italy.
