Galatasaray are leaving little to chance in their bid to keep Victor Osimhen despite growing interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, Afrik Foot reports.
The Super Eagles striker has once again become one of the most sought-after names of the summer transfer window after another outstanding campaign in Turkey, with clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid all linked with the former Napoli star.
While financial offers will inevitably play a role in Osimhen’s final decision, Galatasaray appear to believe there are other ways to convince the Nigerian to remain in Istanbul.
The reigning Super Lig champions have already made two significant promises designed to strengthen their case: building a stronger squad around him and handing him the captain’s armband.

Why promising a stronger squad matters
According to Turkish journalist Levent Tüzemen, Galatasaray’s hierarchy have assured Osimhen that next season’s team will be stronger than the one that retained the Turkish Super Lig title.
On the surface, it sounds like a routine message every ambitious club delivers during the transfer window.
In reality, it addresses perhaps the biggest reason why Osimhen could still leave.
The 27-year-old has consistently shown throughout his career that he chooses projects that offer him the opportunity to compete for major honours. By promising further investment, Galatasaray are attempting to remove one of the strongest arguments for leaving.

Rather than asking Osimhen to sacrifice his Champions League ambitions, they are presenting themselves as a club capable of growing alongside him.
If Galatasaray can significantly strengthen key areas of the squad this summer, Osimhen may feel he has a realistic chance of leading another deep Champions League run instead of starting from scratch elsewhere.
Why the captaincy could be an even bigger offer
If the promise of a stronger squad appeals to Osimhen’s sporting ambition, the captaincy offer targets something more personal.
Afrik Foot previously reported that Galatasaray are prepared to hand the Nigerian international the captain’s armband ahead of the 2026/27 campaign following the expected departure of Mauro Icardi.
It is a symbolic gesture, but also a strategic one. Unlike Arsenal, Manchester United or Barcelona, where Osimhen would arrive as another marquee signing, Galatasaray are offering him something few elite clubs would immediately guarantee: Leadership.

Making him captain would establish Osimhen as the undisputed face of the club, both on and off the pitch.
It would also reinforce his growing influence within the project, with reports suggesting he has been consulted over potential transfer targets as Galatasaray prepare for another Champions League campaign.
For a player whose leadership credentials continue to be discussed within the Super Eagles setup, captaining one of Europe’s biggest clubs could further strengthen his reputation beyond goals alone.
The offer, therefore, goes beyond wearing an armband. It is Galatasaray effectively telling Osimhen that the next chapter of the club will be built around him.
Will it be enough to keep Osimhen?
Neither promise guarantees that Osimhen will remain in Turkey. Interest from Europe’s elite remains genuine, while clubs in the Saudi Pro League continue to possess financial power that few teams can match.

However, Galatasaray’s approach suggests they understand what motivates the Nigerian striker.
Instead of relying solely on money, they have chosen to appeal to both his competitive ambitions and his desire to become a leader.
Whether that proves enough to convince Osimhen to reject interest elsewhere remains to be seen, but Galatasaray have made one thing clear: if they lose their star striker this summer, it will not be for a lack of trying.
