The penultimate round of the PSL will take place this weekend with a lot still to play for even though Mamelodi Sundowns have secured the title while Orlando Pirates have a Champions League ticket.
However, the race for third place to join Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Confederation Cup is still on while the top eight is yet to be decided and so is the relegation battle.
With six matches lined up on Saturday and one on Sunday, thrills and spills are expected.
SATURDAY 17 MAY, 2025
Stellenbosch vs SuperSport United (15:00)

A case of very contrasting fortunes, Stellenbosch are chasing third place, sitting fourth, one point behind Sekhukhune United, while SuperSport are looking to avoid relegation.
Stellenbosch are favourites as they look to return to winning ways after their 3-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last week against a SuperSport team that has improved, having gone four matches without defeat, but still not with the quality to match Steve Barker’s men.
Prediction: Stellenbosch 2-0 SuperSport
Richards Bay vs Golden Arrows (15:00)

Richards Bay seem to have done enough to avoid getting dragged into the relegation-promotion playoff for a second straight season as they are 11th with 29 points, six more than 15th-placed Cape Town City.
Golden Arrows cannot say the same, sitting in 14th position with 26 points, and in danger of slipping down if they continue their poor form, having lost their last four matches while they have not won in six.
It therefore makes it a must-win for Manqoba Mngqithi’s team although the Natal Rich Boyz will not be pushovers as they are coming off a win.
Prediction: Richards Bay 1-1 Golden Arrows
Polokwane City vs Cape Town City (15:00)

Polokwane City, sitting seventh with 33 points, need a win to ensure a place in the top eight is secured, but face a relegation-threatened Cape Town City who occupy the playoff position.
Cape Town were a top eight team last season but are now fighting for their lives and appear to have come to terms with their fate even though there is still a chance to escape.
However, the problem is that they are not winning games, having picked up just four points from their last 13 matches, with their last victory coming in January, a run of form that should give Polokwane encouragement.
Prediction: Polokwane City 2-0 Cape Town City
Orlando Pirates vs TS Galaxy (15:00)

Orlando Pirates will begin life without coach Jose Riveiro, who has departed the club after his three-year reign, with his assistant Mandla Ncikazi set to take over for the remaining four games.
However, Pirates have secured second place and a CAF Champions League ticket while TS Galaxy must win this match to be sure of a place in the top eight.
Galaxy have 34 points in fifth place but this will be their final match of the season while their rivals for top eight have two or three matches to play which means they cannot rest on their laurels.
Prediction: Orlando Pirates 1-1 TS Galaxy
Sekhukhune United vs Kaizer Chiefs (15:00)

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are still celebrating their Nedbank Cup win but they will need to quickly turn their attention to league matches as a place in the top eight is still within reach.
With two games to go, Chiefs are ninth with 30 points and must win both and hope results elsewhere go their way to make it to the top eight.
However, having not won any of their last seven league games, Sekhukhune United, placed third and looking for a CAF Confederation Cup ticket, are hardly the team they want to play as Eric Tinker’s team are unbeaten in the league in their last five.
Prediction: Sekhukhune United 3-1 Kaizer Chiefs
Marumo Gallants vs Chippa United (15:00)

Marumo Gallants are among the form teams in the PSL, having gone five matches without defeat, including three wins over that period.
That has left Gallants in with a chance of making it to the top eight as they are among three teams on 30 points, alongside Chiefs and their next opponents Chippa United.
Chippa have had a torrid run that includes four straight defeats and they have no win in their last six, giving Gallants hopes of winning this one.
Marumo Gallants 1-0 Chippa United
SUNDAY 18 MAY, 2025
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Magesi FC (17:30)

Champions Mamelodi Sundowns will complete their season with a home clash against Magesi but the match holds no significance for Miguel Cardoso’s men whose full focus is on the CAF Champions League final next week.
Magesi, who were promoted this season, seem to have done enough to secure their place in the PSL next season, having won four of their last five matches to take their tally to 29 points with three matches to go.
With Sundowns’ only motivation being to take their tally to 73 points, it's anyone’s game and Magesi can be encouraged by the fact that Cardoso will ring the changes.
Prediction: Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 Magesi FC
