Published on by Joel Oliver

Kaizer Chiefs will be out to keep pace with leaders Stellenbosch FC when the DStv Diski Challenge returns this weekend at various venues while Orlando Pirates have a tough game.

Chiefs ended 2024 on a high, sitting second on the table with 27 points, just two behind Stellenbosch, and they have a match in hand over Stellies.

Amakhosi will therefore be hoping for three points against Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday midday.

Galaxy will not be pushovers as they had been on a good run before the break, moving to fifth place, four points behind Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have a tough assignment away to third-placed Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday morning.

Pirates have endured a tough campaign so far with inconsistencies hampering them and head into the match in eighth place with 19 points, 10 adrift of the leaders, although they have a match in hand.

With Sundowns also looking to keep pressure on the leading two, Pirates have their work cut out.

Who else is playing this weekend?

Elsewhere, leaders Stellenbosch can boost their chances of retaining their title with victory away to SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday morning but Matsatsantsa have also been on the up.

SuperSport are fourth on the standings, four points behind Stellies, and know that victory will leave them within a point of the log leaders, adding an extra twist to the tie.

In other matches, Marumo Gallants host Golden Arrows at CUT Stadium on Saturday while on Sunday, Cape Town City welcome AmaZulu (Malta Park Sports Complex), Sekhukhune are at home to Richards Bay (Isak Steyl Stadium) while Chippa United visit Peter Mokaba Stadium for a date with Polokwane City.
